The Ministry of Culture has provided a fund to restore three buildings, over 300 hundred years-old, in the southern city of Gjirokaster as part of a programme for the maintenance and restoration of the category 1 monuments in the country. The 20 million leke fund will be used to restore the three stone houses of Kokobobo, Fico and Çuberi, which are included in the list of protected National Monuments for their rare historical, architectonic and cultural values. The three buildings are currently at a poor state due to their age and damages. Restoration of these houses will increase number of the sites and attractions in the Gjirokaster’s tourist map. Gjirokaster was declared a “Museum City” in 1961 and a “World Heritage Site” by UNESCO in 2005. /albeu.com/
