The infant mortality rate declined in Albania

The infant and maternal mortality rate in Albania has sharply declined, faring even better than certain developed countries, Minister of Health Petrit Vasili said at a news conference on Monday, referring to various reports by international health organizations. Based on health indicators, in 2011 infant mortality rate is estimated 8.7 deaths per 1,000 compared to 9.7 in 2010. Mortality rate has been halved since 2011 when the death rate among children was 17.5. Regarding maternal and prenatal care Albania ranks in the 21st place, outdoing certain developed countries. Regarding the maternal mortality, a very important indicator of the system, Albania is positioned in the 22nd place. The children immunization and vaccination rate in Albania is 98%, according to Vasili. /albeu.com/
