Kosovo's Prime Minister, Hashim Thaçi, attended the inauguration ceremony of 4 km of "Ibrahim Rugova" highway from Suhareka to Duhla. Thaçi said that this year's project would finish a day before celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Albania's Independence with the opening of 60 km of highway from Vërmica to Prishtina-Peja magistrale on Orllat.
"We are inaugurating four other kilometers of the dream highway of the Kosovo Republic citizens, of the highway of integration and national reunion. We had a vision and a goal, the construction of this highway. Today, this dream is becoming reality, a reality that is changing the Kosovo state, is modernizing our state, is developing it, is creating new jobs, is increasing the well-being of the Kosovo citizens," he said.
Thaçi said that "Ibrahim Rugova" highway is giving meaning to the state of Kosovo and is opening a comprehensive perspective for the citizens and the new state. He added, "This project is opening the perspective of integration and unity, national and Euro-Atlantic". In his word, the Minister of Infrastructure, Fehmi Mujota, promised that at the end of November, the other part of the highway from Duhla to Orllat will be opened.
According to PM Thaçi, this highway shortens the trip to Tirana in three hours, compared to 12 before.
