Steinmeier: EU is the future of Balkans

Just hours before the Balkans summit kicks in, the foreign minister of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier expressed his joy over this meeting.

"This conference emphasizes the fact that Germany continues to support all countries of the region. It confirms our stance regaring EU future of the Western Balkans. We want to take the opportunity to evaluate and praise the progress achieved till now. At the same time, we will discuss matters that are very important regarding EU integration process. All countries must keep the pace regarding reforms, those necessary reforms that are badly needed", he said.

The foreign minister will also meet ahead of the summit, his counterparts from 10 states and a member of the European Commission.

The minister that will attend the meeting are Albanian foreign minister Ditmir Bushati, from Bosnia Zlatko Lagumdzija, from Kososo Enver Hoxhaj, Vesna Pusic from Crotatia, Nikola Poposki from Macedonia, Igor Luksic from Montenegro, Sebastian Kurz from Austria, Ivica Dacic from Serbia, Karl Erjavec from Slovenia, EU enlargement commissioner Stefan Fule. /
