OSCE Presence in Albania with the financial help of the Italian government has undertaken a project to improve accountability and transparency in the cities of Fier and Lushnja and reduce the opportunities for corruption.

The Memorandum of Understanding for the project was signed today at the premises of the OSCE Presence, by its President, Ambassador Florian Raunig, and mayors of Fier and Lushnja Baftjar Zeqaj and Fatos Tushe, while also present was the First Consul of the Embassy Italian Marcello Cavalcaselle.

"Corruption undermines public funds and citizens trust in institutions. But there is a cure for this, by starting to increase transparency and interaction between the local government and citizens. At the end of this project, we hope that institutions will provide better public services to citizens. We thank these two municipalities for being ready to begin this new approach against corruption along with us, "said Ambassador Raunig. /albeu.com/
