Meta and Gruevski vow to deepen and strengthen cooperation

Speaker of the parliament Ilir Meta met today with the prime minister of Macedonia, Nikola Gruevski with whom he discussed the cooperation between the two countries.

They both emphasized that it is very important to strengthen the infrastructure and energy interconnections, as well as commercial and human exchanges between the two countries as an economic and cultural necessity.

In this context, Meta and Gruevski emphasized the importance of building a faster railway linking Albania and Macedonia, considering it as a strategic emergency for both Tirana and Skopje, and as a strong link of Corridor 8 that serves to the entire region.

Meta said that at enhancing the quality of bilateral cooperation and the promotion of cross-border projects, is strongly supported by the Albanian Parliament and also favors joint meetings and work coordination between the two Governments of Albania and Macedonia.

In conclusion, Meta reconfirmed the generous support of Albania to Macedonia's NATO membership and shared the common belief with Prime Minister Gruevski that the challenges in international terrorism in Europe require a bigger coordination between all countries of Eastern Europe, Albania and Macedonia have a special role in it. Meta also met the president of Macedonia, Gjorgje Ivanov. This is the second and the last day of Meta's official visit. /
