International Court of Justice next week will hold public hearings which aim to resolve the 20-year dispute between Greece and Macedonia over the name of the former Yugoslav republic.

Macedonia will go to the court on Monday and Tuesday to be followed by Greece in the next two days.

Two countries have been at odds since the Macedonian state declared independence from Yugoslavia in 1991.

Greece has blocked Macedonia to merge in the European Union and NATO until they change the name, which is similar to that of a northern Greek province. / albeu.com /
