Citizens' expectations that the EU will reward Kosovo with visa liberalization as a result of dialogue with Serbia have turned out to be disappointing, as the conclusions of the EU Council published on Tuesday turned out to be negative.

According to these conclusions, citizens of Kosovo won't travel without visas to the Schengen countries in 2016, as the report noted that the country must fight crime and corruption, as a key criteria for visa liberalization.

Unlike Kosovo, the other party in the negotiations (Serbia) has officially launched negotiations for EU membership, precisely as a result of the dialogue with Kosovo.

However, Minister of European Integration, Bekim Ēollaku, told "Zeri" newspaper that the conclusions of the Council of the European Union don't affect the final report of the European Commission on visa liberalization, to be published in the coming days.

Ēollaku said he was sure that Kosovo citizens will travel without visas in 2016. /albeu.com/
