The Kosovo Albanian authorities intend to spend half a million dollars on a lobbying campaign aimed at increasing the number of states which recognize Kosovo.
The ethnic Albanians unilaterally declared independence more than three and a half years ago. Serbia rejected the proclamation as illegal. 22 out of EU's 27 members recognized the territory as independent, but it has been unable to join the UN.
Now, Pristina is hiring Washington DC-based Patton Boggs LLP to conduct the campaign on its behalf.
The company has American diplomat Frank Wisner on its payroll, writes Pristina-based Albanian language daily Koha Ditore.
Wisner was previously involved in negotiations aimed at resolving the future status of Kosovo. /albeu.com/
