Prime Minister Hashim Thaši is ready to meet with new President of Serbia, Tomisllav Nikoliš, for the good of the two peoples and in the interest of peace, stability and European perspective of the region.
Deputy Prime Minister Hajredin Kuši said that the highest officials of the Kosovo Government will represent Kosovo as a sovereign country everywhere, even in relation with Serbia, and that, according to Kuši, doesn't constitute anything bad or wrong.
'Kosovo Government and each one of us - me personally too - do not choose the representatives of the Serbian Government nor their President. This is the right and this is the will of the Serbian citizens.'
'With everyone, including President Nikoliš, if he represents the state of Serbia, and we represent the state of Kosovo, we would definitely meet for the benefit of our two peoples, for the benefit of the region, for the benefit of our two countries, and this doesn't mean anything bad. This doesn't affect the forgetting of past hostilities, but in the construction of a different future,' Kuši said.
A high level political meeting between Kosovo and Serbia shall precede the continuation of the dialogue between the two countries, where an inevitable topic will be the north of Kosovo.
Deputy PM Hajredin Kuši said that citizens of the northern part are the most isolated in Europe, because they have fallen hostage to a group of people involved in smuggling in this part of the country.
'The North is part of the Republic of Kosovo; it is still an unintegrated part unfortunately, citizens there live in isolation, they are hostage to a group of people who do smuggling and who move in the name of the Government of Serbia. On the other hand, the people in the North can not elect democratic representatives, they can not live freely.'
'There is no law and order functioning there, and we can not develop economically that part of Kosovo. We need to work in this direction, to unblock [the reality for] those people who are the most isolated in Europe. The North is an inseparable part of Kosovo; Serbian citizens there are citizens of Kosovo, they will be treated equally and they will have a future European perspective along with us and the whole region,' Deputy PM stated.
Deputy PM Kuši said that Kosovo will work for the integration of this part of the country and will never contribute to a crisis, but will give its contribution to peace, stability and European integration.
