Experts' meeting resumes, but the opposition chooses to leave

Update - After a break that lasted about 2 hours, legal experts resumed the meeting for the justice reform. The high-level experts to the Democratic Party returned to the Parliament, following a lunch to reconcile views regarding the judicial reform, but they left the meeting only 5 minutes later.

15:33 The meeting regarding the justice reform has resumed but parties have not achieved anything in terms of reaching a consensus on the draft reform.

They say that read differently the recommendations of the Venice Commission. The main point remains the method of electing the members of the High Council of the Judiciary and institutions, who are voted in the Parliament.

The opposition has insisted for these nominations to be approved by the Parliament with a constitutional majority of 93 votes. While the high-level experts say that they should be approved by a qualified majority of 84 votes.

The majority said that earlier, the opposition did agree on this point in front of the ambassadors, but now they insist on 93 votes. /
