Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan pledged Thursday his personal commitment to encourage Turkish investments in Albania. Speaking at a joint news conference with the visiting Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha in Ankara, head of the Turkish government Erdogan noted that current trade volume between Turkey and Albania is estimated around $400 million. He pledged his personal commitment to boost trade exchanges between the two countries in the future, saying the current trade volume does not meet full capacities of the bilateral economic relations. "Many Turkish investors are expressing readiness to invest in Albania, in investments expected to exceed over $1 billion soon, Erdogan said. Head of the Turkish government also said that Turkey is ready to support the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP). "Azerbaijan is making its own efforts. Turkey will support this project. We want good cooperation with Albania and Italy, since natural gas will be carried through the territory of Turkey to Albania and will then reach the European markets by way of Italy," Erdogan said./
