Crediting to economy has continued to grow with caution and at a moderate rate. According to Albania’s Central Bank, the total loan portfolio reached 542.6 billion Leks in February, a monthly increase by around 0.4%, while year on year increase was estimated about 11%. The data show that beginning of 2012 has not resulted in significant changes to the rates of crediting to the country’s economy. Despite the Central Bank’s successive decisions to cut the key interest rate to stimulate economic growth and boost internal demand and consumption since last September, annual growth rate of crediting to economy remains almost unchanged. By the end of 2011, the steady deduction of the key interest rate for Albanian currency resulted in moderate cut in interest rates of banks loans, but the Central Bank’s recent moves are failing to become determinant factor in the growth of the crediting rate. /albeu.com/
