Bushati meets several counterparts at UN Assembly

Minister of Foreign Affairs Ditmir Bushati, who is attending the proceedings of the 69th Session of the General Assembly of the UN, held several bilateral meetings.
On the first day, he met with counterparts of New Zealand, Murray McCully, of Luxembourg, Jean Asselborn, Slovakia, Miroslav Lajcak, Spain's José Manuel Garcķa-Margallo, Foreign Minister of Mongolia Luvsanvandan Bold and the Argentine Deputy Foreign Minister Eduardo Zuain.

Bushati and McCully both praised the friendly relations between the two countries and expressed the will and commitment to strengthen them.
They highlighted the importance of political dialogue through high-level visits and focused on the possibility of increasing cooperation in fields of economy, renewable energy, agriculture, mining, tourism and education.

At the meeting, it was discussed and to strengthen cooperation between Albania and New Zealand in the framework of international organizations and mutual support of candidacies.

With minister Asselborn of Luxembourg, Bushati appreciated the support for obtaining the EU candidate status, expressing confidence that this support will continue during the next EU presidency, which will be held by this country and the process of enlargement.

Minister Bushati also met with Minister Lajcak where he praised Slovakia's support in the integration processes of Albania and the Albanian government reaffirmed its commitment to meet the key priorities to open the negotiations to become member of EU.

In a meeting with his Spanish counterpart José Manuel Garcķa-Margallo, Bushati expressed his gratitude for their support when it comes to European integration process. Foreign ministers praised the good relations between the two countries and exchanged ideas on the possibility of creating a new dynamic.

Minister Bushati continued his bilateral meetings with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia Luvsanvandan Bold. He noted that this year marks the 65th anniversary of relations between our two countries, which should serve as an incentive to give a new dimension to concrete cooperation and activation in areas of mutual interest.

During the conversation with Deputy Foreign Minister of Argentina Eduardo Zauin, Bushati Minister appreciated the need for a more intensive cooperation between the two countries, through the exchange of bilateral visits and intensification of diplomatic contacts. Zauin said that "Albania is a model of inspiration of interfaith dialogue and coexistence, something that was strongly emphasized during the visit of Pope Francis in Tirana".
