Bank of Albania is considering plans to strengthen independence of foreign bank branches or subsidiaries operating in Albania in order to minimize risks of likely future crisis their mother banks could face. The Central Bank has proposed the Assembly several amendments to the Law on Banking System in the Republic of Albania. Arjan Kadareja, member of the Bank's Supervisory Council, said Monday that Bank of Albania could demand that foreign bank subsidiaries break from their mother banks and operate as independent banks. "The Bank could ask foreign subsidiaries to operate independently in cases when their mother banks face problems that could harm their Albanian branch," he explained. /albeu.com/
