Albania’s life expectancy has increased

Albania’s life expectancy has increased by about 22 years compared with 1950 and by 10 years compared with 1960, according to figures from the Ministry of Health. According to figures, people born in Albania have a life expectancy of 75.1 years – men reach at 72.1 and women have a greater longevity of 78.6 years. According to Ministry of Health this life expectancy indicator is comparable with that of many developed nations in Europe. In this context, the Ministry of Health says that a person aged 60 can expect to live 20.6 more years and a person aged 65 can expect to live 16.5 more years. The Albanian population is being considered as a relatively young population with number of old population expected to double in the next 20 years due to demographic changes. The average age of the Albanian population was 32.5 years old in 2007 from 27.4 years it was in 1990./
