Albanian government sells the hydropower plants

The Albanian government has officially launched the sale of hydropower to the private companies. The hydropower plants have always been public since their construction decades ago. Ministry of Economy has prepared a draft law, which launches privatization 4 hydropower plants: Ulza, Shkopeti and two hydropower plants of Bistrica.

The draft that is sent to the Commission of Economy, is expected to be voted on Wednesday. The first step will be the removal of the ownership of these plants by Power Corporation and organizes them temporarily as a society on its own. But only for a very short period of time, since shortly after their breakup from KESH would begin the privatization, reports TCH.

The government has left open the two variants of privatization in the draft, it may bed one with direct sales, but also with concession. /
