Albania gets the 2015 Presidency of the Energy Community

Minister of Energy and Industry of Albania, Damian Gjiknuri, attended the 12th session of the Ministerial Council of the member countries of the Energy Community which took place Kiev.
Gjiknuri presented the priorities of the Albanian Presidency and the main objectives.

"Today, more than ever, parties should understand the importance of using the full potential of the legal framework of the Energy Community in order to reform the sector and the creation of a common regulatory area with the European Union," he said.

The Minister also said he fully supports the active role of the Energy Community in promoting integrated energy market and the efforts to implement the third energy package.

"The implementation of the package, though it will not be easy, is a prerequisite for a coherent regulatory framework as the basis for an integrated European market of energy that ensures effective competition and strengthens the role of the consumer", Gjiknuri said.

He insisted that the policies that guarantee a secure, competitive and sustainable energy will be high on the agenda.

He cited the adoption of new rules to address future challenges, the regulation on security of gas supply, the energy infrastructure, transparency in energy markets and energy efficiency. /
