Today is the 69th anniversary of the Tivar Massacre, when Serbians killed many Albanians.

1945 will be remembered as the biggest massacre towards Albanians.

The estimated number of victims varies from 1700-4300. The crimes were committed by Yugoslav Partisans during World War II. Those who died were Albanian recruits from Kosovo.

Yugoslav commanders collected the Albanian recruits together, disarmed them and let them walk from Prizren, Kosovo to Tivar, Montenegro through the route Prizren-Zhur-Kukės-Puk-Shkodėr-Bar in North Albania in three different groups.

The recruits were executed by their Yugoslav guards as soon as they arrived in Tivar.

The mass grave of Tivar Massacre was discovered after the '50-es. It was Prof. Zekeria Cana, an Albanian history professor that discovered it in September 17th 1996.
