In a joint press conference held last night in Pristina, Hashim Thaci, Isa Mustafa, Behgjet Pacolli, and the American ambassador in Pristina, Christopher Dell, announced the agreement that was reached in terms of overcoming the crisis caused by the unconstitutional election of the president of Kosovo on February 22nd of this year.

In his speech, the Prime Minister, Hashim Thaci said that the leaders of three parties have reached an agreement in favor of the country interest thus surpassing the party interests.

Afterwards, the Prime Minister said that the three leaders have agreed to nominate as a candidate for president, Atifete Jahjaga. While it is decided to form a commission for the reforms of the presidential election, so that the president would be elected directly by the people. The Commission needs to complete its work from 6 to 9 months.

He also added that the elections would be held no later than 6 months after the entry into force of the constitutional changes regarding the election of the president by the people.

Under this memorandum will be formed also the committee to amend the election law and to make possible that the new parliamentary elections and local elections will be held in 2013. / albeu.com /
